Sausage Soup

Servings: 10 Total Time: 55 mins Difficulty: Beginner
This soup has completely won over my children’s hearts. They keep asking for it, again and again—our legendary Vinkusupp!
Vinkusupp

And honestly, it’s the kind of dish that’s just as fun to make as it is to eat. Even the tiniest chefs in the house can join in: a 2- or 3-year-old can start learning to peel or chop soft carrots, while older kids can handle almost the entire prep on their own. The final simmering? That’s for everyone to gather around together.
Children’s eating habits tend to be as individual as their personalities—even in the same family. At our house, my daughter is quite adventurous with food… unless her big brother happens to suggest otherwise. 😉If Uku-Robin, age 9, had full control over the recipe, it would probably be just sausages, potatoes, onion, garlic, and broth. Hermiine, however, is a fan of carrots and peas too—so we have a simple rule: everyone eats the bits they like. And somehow, it works.
Whether your child is ready to run the kitchen solo or just loves sprinkling herbs while perched on a stool, these recipes are all about cooking together. And in our house, the official head chef of Vinkusupp is four-year-old Hermiine.
This same soup was also one of the highlights of the Pere ja Kodu Children’s Cooking School episodes we filmed with Delfi Meedia.
