Uku-Robin helped build the recipe, choosing all the essentials himself. The only addition I made? A dash of nutmeg. It brings a warm, subtle depth that makes the whole dish feel extra cosy. And the golden topping—Parmesan mixed with crunchy breadcrumbs—adds just the right amount of texture to balance the creamy layers.
Making it is simpler than you’d think: thinly sliced potatoes, seasoned cream, and a handful of cheese. Layer, bake, and enjoy how something so simple can taste so wonderfully complete. Sometimes, it’s the soft edges and crispy corners of a potato dish that say “home” the loudest.

Potato Bake with Cheese
Ingredients
Preparation
-
Peel the potatoes and slice them very thinly. Layer them on top of each other in a baking dish. Peel and chop the onion and garlic and heat them in a little oil in a pan with the bay leaves for about 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly. Turn off the heat and pour in the cream and boiled hot water. Grate in the nutmeg, season with salt and pepper and mix. Pour the mixture over the potatoes in the baking dish. Mix the grated Parmesan and breadcrumbs in a small bowl and sprinkle evenly over the potato bake. Bake at 200 degrees Celsius for 35-40 minutes. Serve with homemade nuggets and carrot salad, for example.
