Sometimes life is too short for complicated recipes, but that doesn’t mean you should compromise on flavour. These flatbreads with blue cheese and apples are the perfect happy middle ground – simple to prepare, yet rich in flavour and eye-catching on a party table.
Lightly crispy flatbread, silky cream cheese, salty blue cheese, and some juice from the apples create a perfect harmony together. Rosé pepper adds a spicy zing, thyme brings a bit of depth, and balsamic and honey bring a play of sweet and sour. It all comes together in the oven in just a few minutes – just enough time for the cheese to melt slightly and the flavours to come together.

Serve these breads warm – for example, alongside a good wine or simply at moments when you want to treat yourself to something particularly delicious. And best of all? Preparing this snack is so easy that even the most impatient cooks can handle it with playful ease!

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Place the four flatbreads on a baking paper-lined baking sheet and spread cream cheese on each one. Cut large thin slices from the apple and cut out the core from the centre of the slices in a ring shape. Place the apple rings on the cream cheese – about three apple slices on each flatbread. Crumble blue cheese pieces on top and sprinkle the flatbreads with crushed rosé pepper and some dried thyme. Finally, drizzle a little balsamic glaze and honey or agave syrup on top. Place in the oven to bake at 200 degrees Celsius for 10-12 minutes. Remove from the oven, cut the flatbreads into quarters, and serve warm.
