Ingredients

Preparation

  1. Beat the egg with a pinch of salt and pepper. Cut the puff pastry into strips about 2 cm wide. Brush both sides of each strip with the egg mixture.
  2. Cut the prosciutto and cheese into strips (about 1.5 cm wide) and place them on the pastry – cheese first, then ham on top. Twist the strips and shape them into candy cane forms on a baking paper-lined tray. Press the ends lightly so they hold their shape while baking.
  3. Sprinkle with grated cheese, thyme and a pinch of flaky salt. Bake at 225°C for about 10 minutes, until golden and crisp.

Note

Tip! It is easier to roll the strips if the dough is cold. Keep the puff pastry in the refrigerator just before making it, or even easier - do not let the frozen dough thaw completely. Thaw only enough so that the dough is elastic, but not completely soft.
Tip! It is better to use sliced cheese inside the strips, because it does not spill out when rolling.
