Do you remember that story where the doctor said: “Don’t bring me flowers, I don’t eat flowers. I want sausage!”? Yep, yep. It’s the same thing with Christmas. If you don’t know what to gift, better not grab some terribly-essential-random-junk. Gift hugs, a good deed, time walking in the forest by yourself or other lovely experiences. But if you would still like to hand over something physical, a gift that the giver has made themselves will always warm my heart.
The selection of homemade gifts is wildly wide. Still, an edible gift seems to me like a rather simple and delightful option. A little hint back to that doctor’s story. Maybe it’s simply because I love to eat and enjoy making all kinds of edible things. Who knows which one it is, but well — who doesn’t like candy, right?
Handmade candies or chocolate have recently become almost a trendy gift. I believe the value of candies made with your own hands would be even higher. Even if they are a little bit uneven in shape, you’ve put love into them and giving love is simply the best! Truffles are great gifts because they keep for a long time and handle transport very well. In other words — they won’t melt in a warm car.
So definitely give them a try and let your taste buds run wild. The base ingredients are dates, sunflower seed butter, raw cacao and coconut oil, and you can improvise with the rest. If an elf is blocking your inspiration cable, then choose whether you want to make candies with the Christmas flavor using the recipe below or my raw cacao truffles with coconut and oats.
